Sex Therapy

Sex is an important part of a person's life, and can be a vital part of a couple's relationship as well.  However, when an individual or couple is experiencing issues in their sex life, it can often be a source of  shame, embarrassment and frustration.

Because of the shame and silence surrounding sexual issues, these issues are often not addressed by the individual or couple, which can lead to bigger problems and frustrations down the road. As a sex therapist I am specially trained to assess and treat sexual problems for both individuals and couples.

I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and have received advanced sex therapy training at University of Michigan's Sexual Health Certificate Program.  I strive to create an environment that is safe, warm and non-judgmental, where individuals and couples can begin to talk about sex and sexual issues and get help.

Examples of sexual concerns that can be addressed in therapy include:

*Differences in sexual desire within a relationship

*Erectile dysfunction

*Premature ejaculation

*Painful intercourse

*Issues resulting from past sexual trauma and abuse

*Sexual issues due to infertility treatment, pregnancy, and postpartum

*Sexual challenges posed by aging, illness or medical treatment

*Difficulty or inability achieving orgasm

*Lack of sexual desire or arousal

My approach to working with individuals and couples is multidimensional and holistic and may include outside referrals to medical doctors, readings and videos, and homework to be practiced at home.  I use a biopsychosocial approach- doing a thorough assessment of a person's family/relationship history, past and current medical issues, emotional health, and current relationship dynamics.

What sex therapy is NOT: Sexual activity is NEVER a part of your therapy session.  In no instances will a sex therapist engage in any kind of sexual activity with a client in the office or any other space.

As a sex therapist, I help individuals and couples to create a sex life that is satisfying, fun and fulfilling.
